The Hairy Issue of Hurricane Modification
Posted OCTOBER 23, 2008 WASHINGTON POST Project Cirrus in the late 1940s and early 1950s and Project Stormfury in the 1960s and '70s were two of the earliest attempts to modify hurricanes. Without getting too geeky, the fundamental approach was to seed clouds within specific regions of a storm with tiny particles of silver iodide or dry ice, providing surfaces around which moisture can collect and condense. Promoting and accelerating condensation of water vapor into raindrops, it was thought, would change the distribution within the storm of the heat energy released when water changes phase from gas to liquid. In principle, this could lead to changes in the storm's structure, intensity and motion, because it is this heat energy (known as latent heat) that fuels and drives hurricanes. Comment - Another report designed to misdirect information back to 1940's technology and benevolent motives. The technology is not about protecting any of us, unless we happen to live near some multi-national financial interest. Give the military a technology and it WILL be weaponized. Modification is just a "watered down" term for what the technology is really about.

Darpa Wants Clean, Cheap Jet Fuel — From Coal
Posted SEPTEMBER 12, 2008 WIRED The Air Force is flying a range of crafts, from supersonic fighter jets to hulking cargo planes, on a synthetic fuel blend derived largely from coal. The problem is, that stuff is as bad for the environment as the old-school fuel. Comment - It's not about clean burning fuel. Any "new" technology developed by the military will probably be weaponized, by default. I'm sure there exists varying ways of distributing those aerosolized components of death. One way could be related to jet fuel and emissions. I seem to be seeing new formulas or techniques with the aerial spray ops.
